Our Vision
Our corps members and alumni partner with other organizations in our region seeking to provide increased sustainable opportunities for our students, families, and communities in and outside of our schools.
What is a fellowship?
A fellowship is a 6-8 week long, project based, partnership between a Teach For America Louisiana Delta corps member or alum, and an organization, agency or group that directly impacts Northeast Louisiana, southern rural communities, or broader educational work in our state. The TFA summer fellow and the sponsor will establish project outcomes, deadlines, and overall objectives for the work that needs to be completed. Partnering organizations work in fields such as public health, education, community mobilization, art, economic development, youth development, adult literacy, historical research, policy, livelihoods, or entrepreneurship.
We've been partnering with our organizations for the past three summers. One project mentor stated, "My fellow saved me hours of research. The result of his work added to my understanding of the 1960s era and the political and social environment." Another mentor shared, "Our Fellowship participant was not only a life savior at times but such a valuable asset to the work this summer. Her diversity of talents and experiences allowed us to engage in hands on summer programming, research projects, and capacity development as an organization."
