2016 Summer Fellowships
What is the process?
You will apply through our application process and select which organizations you would like to be considered for. After initial screening, the organizations will contact you for interviews. If you are chosen by an organization to serve as their fellow, you and your project mentor(s) will create a project plan with objectives and timelines. Not all organizations offer a stipend, and you must work with your project mentor to establish leave and working remotely. Your application may not result in being hired by a partner organization.
What is the difference between an internship and a fellowship?
Internships generally are an exchange of services and an opportunity for one to explore a possibly career or organization. A fellowship builds on this, while also pushing the participant to research issues impacting their broader work. The Teach For America Louisiana Delta Summer Fellowship is a time for you build your theory of change and understand your role in our movement towards educational equity. You will build skills, professionally explore, and dive into broader issues impacting our classrooms and schools. Please read the other requirements to understand how you will examine these issues.
Other requirements
You will be required to provide 4 journal entries about your work and development. You are required to attend the Fellowship Kick Off; we partner with the Mississippi corps for this event and establish our thesis question we wish to explore throughout our summer. You will provide a paper and/or presentation on your question, your findings, and their implications at the end of the summer at our Fellowship Presentations.
